Sagar releases ‘Dehat Sudhar’; stresses transparency, accountability

JAMMU, Feb 4
Minister for Rural Development, Ali Mohammad Sagar today said that the Government is for bringing a complete transparency and accountability in implementation of various developmental programmes
The Minister was speaking after releasing Dehat Sudhar, a publication of the Rural Development Department here. The Commissioner Secretary, Rural Development, Umang Narula, Director Rural Development, Jammu J L Bhagat and senior officers of the Department attended. The booklet being published since 1960 provides a comprehensive knowledge about various schemes, achievements of the Rural Development Department
While stressing the need for sustained monitoring of various schemes, the Minister said that it is due to the tireless efforts of the officers of the department that major headway has been achieved viz a viz implementation and utilization of the funds.
“We have recorded a phenomenal growth in utilization and implementation of various schemes, like MNREGA, IAY and other related schemes,” he added.
The Minister said that various new schemes have also been introduced to elevate the living standard of the rural artisans and provide a proper market for their produce. He said that Rural Haats would be constructed soon so that a proper marketing facility and interaction of rural artisans with their prospective buyers takes place.
While complementing the officers of the department for publishing the booklet, Sagar said that the first issue of the same was release some 60 years back and it is a good medium to provide information about various schemes and also document the achievements of the department with regard to implementation of various schemes.
Umang Narula gave an over view about various schemes and presented vote of thanks.
