Jobs for jobless major challenge for Govt: Nasir

JAMMU, Feb 4
Minister of State for Tourism and Revenue Nasir Aslam Wani has said that providing jobs to the educated unemployed youth is a major challenge and the coalition government has flagged the issue as one of its top priorities.
He said the recently-announced Sher-e-Kashmir Employment and Welfare Programme for Youth (SKEWPY) is a step in that direction as the policy envisages creation of ample employment opportunities and fast-tracking process of recruitment in the Government. The Minister was speaking at a public function, here today. MLA Bimla Luthra, provincial president, NC, Rattan Lal Gupta, provincial president youth, Surinder Singh Bunty, besides others were present on the occasion.
Urging youth to explore possibilities of absorption as much in the private as in the Government sector, he asked them to come forward and avail benefits extended under the new employment package.
He called upon the youth to benefit from the provision of Voluntary Service Allowance extended to educated unemployed youth under the programme, adding the Government is working strenuously towards creating enough job avenues for the youth in the industrial sector as well.
Expressing satisfaction over tourist arrivals to the State, the Minister asked the people to support Government’s endeavour to promote tourism in Jammu region by spreading consistent flow of pilgrims to other scenic spots like Mansar, Surinsar and Patnitop.
He said the figure of eight million pilgrims who visited Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine is likely to go up to around 10 million with the improvement in infrastructural facilities in the tourism sector. “Tourism holds the key to development in J&K. We have a vision to attract all categories of visitors to the State for which all out efforts are being made”, Nasir Aslam said.
