| 4 killed, 14 injured in mishaps | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 04: Four persons were killed and at least 14 others wounded, some of them critically, in two road mishaps across the region this morning. The first mishap occured at Berha Morh, about 12 km from here on the upper Akhnoor road, at about 8.30 am when a minibus overturned in the middle of the road, resulting in the death of a commuter and injuries to at least 11 others. The dead was identified as Kuldeep Kumar of Kote. The injured -- Vandana Jamwal, Rajinder Kumar, Suram Singh, Ghulam Rasool, Subash Kumar, Naresh Kumar, Shifali, Sobha Singh, Anjana, Banti and Bina Devi -- were admitted to the Government Medical College Hospital here. The minibus was on its way from Gharota to Jammu. Overspeeding was stated to be the reason behind the incident. The other incident took place at Dooligam in Banihal at about 10.15 am when a tipper (JK14A/7976) skidded off the road and plunged into a 200-ft deep gorge. Police sources said a total of five persons, including driver, were travelling in the tipper. Of them, three were killed, while two others survived with serious injuries. The dead included driver Mohammad Akhtar of Chareel, Mudassar Ahmad of Hali Maidan and Mohammad Farooq of Nougam. The injured were identified as Mohammad Farooq and Mohammad Yousaf. They were admitted to a Srinagar hospital. The tipper, which was on its way from Banihal to Dooligam, was badly damaged in the mishap.
