70% plan money spent in Anantnag

ANANTNAG, FEB 5: For execution of all development works it is necessary that all the executing agencies should ensure quality work, with special thrust on timely completion of all under execution projects and clearance of liabilities of the works, which physically exist”, said Chief Minister Mr. Omar Abdullah while reviewing this year’s plan at District Development Board meeting, here today.
While reviewing the cases for the payment of liabilities, the Chief Minister said that the concerned officers should give certificate for only those works which exist on the ground and state the circumstances in which these were taken up. He also said that after March 15, savings under any sector would be diverted for land acquisition for the identified projects.
The Chief Minister said that under Public Private Partnership mode, if some executing agencies come forward for the construction of bridges, identified by the Chief Engineers, a thorough project report should be prepared and submitted to the Planning and concerned Department for necessary approval.
Making specific mention of monitoring of various projects and schemes, the Chief Minister said that NABCON team has already arrived here for thorough monitoring of ongoing works and asked the District Administration to extend full cooperation to the officers.
On the occasion, the Chief Minister announced additional funds of Rs 15 lakh for approach road to Aishmuqam shrine, Rs 26 lakh for various pending Qazigund roads, and Rs 15 lakh each for construction of play grounds for Devsar and Homeshalibug Constituencies. The amount of Rs 15 lakh each was also sanctioned for MLCs of Anantnag District to develop sports play-ground in their respective areas. For the ongoing Harnag-Batengoo, Bye Pass road, the Chief Minister announced an additionality of Rs 15 lakh, besides, Rs 25 lakh for renovation of Nandi Canal. He also announced Rs 30 lakh for construction of Dak Bungalow, Dooru and Rs 3 lakh for street lighting in Shangus.
District Development Commissioner, Anantnag, Sheikh Mushtaq Ahmad, while giving a resume of various developmental schemes, said that against an availability of Rs 70.59 crores, about Rs 50 crore have been expended till ending January 2010, registering 70.37 percent expenditure.
