Chehlum of Martyrdom of Imam Hussain observed in Jammu

Jammu Feb 5: rtieth day of Martyrdom of Imam Hussain (A.S), the grandson of Prophet Mohammed who laid down their lives at Karbala in 680 CE, battling against the tyranny of Yazid, the ruler and Caliph of Muslims at that time was observed in Jammu today.
President Anjuman-e-Imamia, Jammu stated that to observe the day for the last one week, the majalis were held in Imam Bargha Pir Mitha which were addressed by Moulana Mohammad Hussain Zaidi Hussaini in Jammu.
Religious preacher recalled highlighted the life of Imam Hussein (PBUH), his family and his companions saying that they offered human resistance against oppression and injustice and not exclusively for the Muslim nations but for all of mankind.
‘On this day in 61 Hijra (681 CE), the family was freed and allowed to mourn the martyrs. Since then, along with Ashura (the day the martyrs laid down their lives at Karbala) the Chehlum is observed throughout the world, a devotee said.
Today afternoon, a large procession of thousands of mourner was taken out from Imam Barghah Pir Mitha under the banners of Anjumn-e-Imamia Jammu and several other Anjumans merged with it.
The procession passed through its traditional and designated route. All along the route, people irrespective of their religion and caste accompanied the procession and showed their respect for the Martyrs.
The procession culminated at Karbala, Wazarat Road Jammu in the evening.
Appropriate and elaborate security arrangements were made by the authorities to avoid any untoward happening. Mobile medical units were made available to offer on spot medical help to mourners.
