| About 14000 quintals of seed being provided to farmers in Kashmir | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Srinagar, Feb 5 : Jammu and Kashmir Agriculture department would provide about 14000 quintal seeds of different crops to the farmer in the Kashmir Valley during the coming Kharif season. This information was given to Minister for Agriculture Ghulam Hassan Mir during his visit to seed multiplication farm Padgampora today. The farm is spread over an area of 338 hectares of land. Director, Agriculture, Mian Abdul Majid apprised the minister that this farm was the largest farm in the Valley and is providing quality seeds to the farmers of the area. He was informed that 6000 quintals of paddy, 2500 quintals of maize, 5000 quintals of moong and 50 quintals of vegetable seeds are being provided to the farmers during coming Khariff season. He also inspected seed processing plant and was apprised about its functioning and also inspected combined harvester machine. The Minister, on this occasion, stressed upon the officers to redouble their efforts for increasing the products of Mushroom, Herbal Plants and Vegetable, Medicinal Plants, Bee-Keeping and Commercial Flowers so that the employment avenues could be generated. He stressed for concrete efforts to increase production and productivity. He said combined efforts of Agriculture Scientists and generous financial support by the government considerable progress could be achieved.
