| GCW Parade wins women’s basketball trophy | | Inter-college competitions of JU | | Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 5: Government College for Women (GCW), Parade clinched the annual inter-college women’s basketball trophy outplaying the combined side of Post Graduate (PG) Departments 33-11 (ht 19-07). Parade College dominated the courts throughout with first half lead of 11 points. PG Departments win men’s hockey title The combined side of Post Graduate Departments today lifted the men’s hockey title in the inter-college competitions, organized by the Department of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu, here. In the hockey final, PG Departments trounced the equally good side of Government Degree College Poonch by three goals to one. Mukesh Kumar remained the star performer once again, netting the first goal for the team. Other two goals came through Gurbachan Singh and Harvinderpaul Singh. From Poonch College, Sunil Raina reduced the margin. The final was officiated by Dalbir Mehta, Joginder Singh, Jasbir Singh, Harmeek Singh and PD Singh. Registrar University of Jammu, Dr P S Pathania was chief guest in the final, who interacted with both the finalist teams. Trikuta College wins men’s basketball final Trikuta Degree College won the inter-college men’s basketball title outplaying Government MAM College 37-34 in a close contest. Varinder and Ranbir contributed 13 and 15 points respectively for the winners while Rajinder fought lone battle for MAM College contributing 24 of the 34 points the team scored. Science College to face MAM in football final The GGM Science College shall take on Government MAM College in the final of ongoing inter-college men’s football tournament at University of Jammu grounds here tomorrow. Earlier, in the semi-finals, played today, Science College defeated Degree College Poonch by a solitary goal. The only goal of the match came through Nitin in the second half of the match. In the second semi-final, MAM College turned the tables against PG Departments beating latter by two goals to nil. Both the goals for the winners MAM College were scored by Vikas Singh. The semi-finals were officiated by Rommy, Vivian, Vinay and Dr Brij Baloria.
