Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 5: Lovish Dev Singh Jamwal excelled with two gold medals on the first day of the two-day 7th State Strength Lifting and 2nd State Inclined Bench Press Championships, organised by Jammu and Kashmir Strength Lifting Association at Indoor Complex, M A Stadium, here today.
Lovish of Friends Club in Jammu, who contested in 55 kg weight category, won his first gold in Strength Lifting with total weight of 642.5 kg and then made it double clinching first position in Incline Bench Press event lifting 177.5 kg.
Mohit Chopra also bagged two medals. His silver medal came in 55 kg Strength Lifting and bronze in Incline Bench Press in same weight category.
In 50 kg weight category, Latish Kumar, again of Friends Club, bagged gold lifting 532.5 kg while the Incline Bench Press gold, in same group, went to Arun Dev Singh of Friends Club with a lift of 142.5 kg.
The competition is being officiated by a penal of experts comprised of Surjit Singh, Daljit Singh, Ajay Gupta, Narinder Singh, Inderpal Singh and Dalbir singh.
Earlier, the championships were declared open by the Minister for Sports, R S Chib. Prominent among others present were incharge Director, Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS), G M Dar, Deputy Director DYSS, SS Bali, Vicky Mahajan, M S Katoch, Angrez Singh and Siddharth Sharma.

Bench Press: 50 kg: Latish Kumar, 532.5 kg, Ist; Harminder Singh, 525 kg, 2nd; Gurnam Singh, 467.5 kg, third. 55 kg: Lovish Dev Singh Jamwal, 642.5 kg, Ist; Mohid Chopra, 585 kg, 2nd and Manjeet Singh, 530 kg, third.
Incline Bench Press: 50 kg: Arun Dev Singh, 142.5 kg, Ist; Latish Kumar, 125 kg, 2nd and Ranjit Kumar, 165 kg, third. 55 kg: Lovish Dev Singh Jamwal, 177.5 kg, Ist; Ankush Kotwal, 162.5 kg, 2nd and Mohit Chopra, 150 kg, third.
