| Valley snowed in | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, Feb 5 : World famous ski resort of Gulmarg, Pahalgam and all upper reaches in the Kashmir Valley experienced fresh snowfall while plains, including summer capital, Srinagar, received rainfall, resulting in considerable drop in the maximum temperature today.
The 300-km-long Srinagar-Jammu National Highway was open despite rains since early this morning.
Director of Met department Sanam Lotus told that snowfall will intensify from February 7 till February 12.
There would be heavy to very heavy snowfall from February 9 to February 12, he said, adding that people living in the avalanche-prone areas have been directed to restrict their movement to avoid any tragedy.
We have already issued warning so that people living in upper reaches could take extra precautions when they go out in case of emergency, he said.
It was snowing heavily since early this morning on the ski slopes, a hotel owner told UNI over phone from Gulmarg.
The Apharwat, Kongdori, Khilanmarg and other heights in the sector experienced moderate to heavy snowfall, Mr Lotus said.
The fresh snowfall had brightened the chances of holding ski camps till March end.
