| Court acquits TSO from corruption charges after 12 yrs | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 06
Special Judge Anticorruption Jammu J R Kotwal acquitted Abdul Aziz Mirza then TSO Surankote who was facing trial for taking money Rs 22000 from the complainant for arranging his government service in the Food and Supplies Department. According to the prosecution case one Yaar Mohd son of Ghulam Hussain lodged a written complaint with the VOJ alleging that he was working as ration dealer for village Marhote District Pooch in the year 1997 while accused Abdul Aziz Mirza was posted as TSO Surankote, promised him that he would arranged for his appointment as Class IV Employee in the Food Supplies Dept and demanded Rs 22000 as bribe within a month’s time. According to the complainant he arranged the money and paid the said amount to the accused in presence of Mustaq Ahmed on September 12, 1997. The accused neither arranged the employment for him nor returned his money despite having been approached a number of times. A case was registered and after completion of investigation a challan was presented in the Court of Special Judge Anticorruption Jammu. Special Judge Anticorruption Jammu J R Kotwal after hearing adv Rameshwar Sharma appeared for the accused observed that the evidence coming by way of testimonies of the complainant failed to substantiate the charge against the accused and renders prosecution story incredible and untrustworthy. Hence the charges against the accused, therefore, fails, so he is acquitted from the charges leveled against him after 12 years investigation and trial. JNF
