| RDD house committee inspects dev works | | | Jammu, October 10 – The House Committee on Rural Development led by its Chairman which was on a four day tour of Jammu reviewed working of the department in the division and visited various block offices to have first hand information about their functioning. The Committee after reviewing the implementation of various schemes at a divisional level meeting conducted an on-ground investigation of the progress of works under such schemes. During the meeting, Director Rural Development Jammu Mr. G R Bhagat apprised the committee about various centrally sponsored schemes including SGRY, IAY, NREGS, PMGSY, BADP, Model villages, SJGSY being implemented by the state government. The committee during its 4 day stay in Jammu also visited Vijaypur , Samba Marh and Akhnoor blocks. During the tour of Vijaypur Committee inspected work on circular road, lanes and drainage at village Banachak, being executed at an estimated cost of Rs.5.70 lakh,. The committee also inspected 3.45 km long Ramgrah-Kandral road (block Vijaypur) completed at a cost of Rs.86.61 lakh completed under PMGSY. The Committee also visited village Rangroor in Vijaypur and village Bari-Kamila, in Samba. The two villages are being developed as Model village at a cost of Rs.1.20 crore each. The development works in such Model villages include construction of lanes and drainage, , CFC building, shopping complex, parks and playgrounds besides establishment of computer centers and solar lighting system. Ate Marh block, Committee members visited the IAY (Indira Awas Yojna) quarters at the villages camp Gol Gujral, Ranjeetpur, Akalpur, Chak Jaffer in Marh and village Bandwal in Akhnoor block.
