| Pathania seeks compensation for affected families in road widening | | | Early Times Report Ramnagar, Feb 7: R.S. Pathania, political activist of area, has taken to task local administration for forcibly bulldozing the homes, hearths and small shops of the poor farmers while getting executed work on the ambitious Roun-ramnagar road-widening project. Addressing a congregation of people at Dak Bungalow, he said that neither the lands of affected families have been acquired by the government in consonance with the provisions of Land Acquisition Act nor a penny of compensation has ever been paid to them. Whereas right to property is a fundamental right in our state and it is highly inethical and unbecoming upon the administration to use force against the poor farmers, purportedly at the behest of construction agency. He said that administration had succeeded in getting the work forcibly started through Dehari and Jaloh villages. But in Ritti village, a day before, locals had virtually driven out the ERA officials accompanied with team of local administration with violent protests and sloganeering. He said public mood is now wide out in the open as to, come what may, they would not part with even an inch of land without payment of adequate compensation. If lacs and crores of money is being gobbled up here as commission why cannot the State afford to pay rightful compensation to farmers. The construction agency has further abrogated the Central Line specifically earmarked at the time of project-formulation, as result whereof, the alignment of road, steepness of curves, gradient and curvature degrees are not in consonance with the norms and standards of Indian Transport Rules. Pathania fired a salvo on construction agency for subletting work to contractors of the choice of local MLA. Which this gives rise to a veritable inference that local MLA is offering fullest support to and is rather part and parcel fo the misdeeds and misgiving of E.R.A. He appealed to the Chief Minister to personally intervene into the matter otherwise the farmers of Ramnagar will spark off a people’s movement against the injustice and fraud being meted out to them. Among others who addressed the meet included Jagan Nath, Sanjay Sharma, Dharma Chand, Jogmohan, Mulkh Raj, Neelam Devi, Shakuntal Devi, Lisso Devi, Mohd. Qazim, Shokat Ali, Pritam Singh, Subash Chander, Kewal Kumar and Rajinder Kumar etc.
