| National Federation of Blind demand withdrawal of SRO-62 | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Feb 7: National Federation of Blind (NFB) J&K Branch demand withdrawal of SRO-62 which debars the blind community form appointment in education deportment. Speaking in press conference here today Sanjay Gupta president (NFB) said that 1% reservation quota for the J&K handicapped ACT VI but since then no application was entertained by SSRB and the quota of 1% was misused by the state government to please some wasted interested persons. He further said that Govt. handicapped ACT VI of 1998 also mention that government allotment of residential land to the handicapped on nominal rates, land for handicapped institutes, land for handicapped organization But not a single plot has so far allotted to any blind person. He assured that the handicapped particularly the blind person may have to fight for their legal rights and constituent rights. He further said the blind community had been facing many hardships at the brutal hands of the Govt. and wanted to withdraw the draconian law SRO-62 passed by cabinet.
