Governor visits Red Cross Mela

JAMMU, Feb 7: The 2-day Red Cross Mela-cum-Raffle Draw, organized by the Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region, concluded at Kala Kendra here this evening with the Governor, Mr. N. N. Vohra, as the Chief Guest.

The First Lady, Mrs. Usha Vohra, was also present on the occasion.

The event was organized to provide opportunities to various organizations to reach out to the people, create awareness about the Red Cross and its activities as well as giving impetus to this movement.

The Governor and the First Lady picked the tickets of the Raffle Draw to mark the announcement of the winners.

The Governor and the First Lady visited different stalls and the photo exhibition put up as part of the event. He interacted with the stall-holders and students manning these.

The Governor, who was earlier profusely greeted by the school children and Scouts and Guides, lit the ceremonial lamp to mark the Raffle Draw and the Bhajan Sandhya, organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, which was highly appreciated by the audience.

Other attractions of the Mela were food stalls and the BSF Jazz Band. The stall put up by the Indian Air Force provided information about the career opportunities in the Air Force.

The Divisional Commissioner and Chairman of the Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu, Dr. Pawan Kotwal, Honorary General Secretary, J&K State Branch of Indian Red Cross Society, Mr. Feroze Ahmad, Secretary, IRCS, Jammu Region, Dr. Anil Padha, members of the State Management Committee, senior officers, philanthropists, prominent citizens and students were present on the occasion.
