| Discrimination against Jammu may trigger agitation: JSM | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Feb 7
Raising its concern over alleged discriminatory policies being pursued by the State Government with regard to selections and appointments to various cadre posts, Jammu State Morcha (Progressive) today warned that any biased and prejudiced behaviour would force the unemployed youth to adopt agitational course to get justice. In a meeting of Morcha under the chairmanship of Virender Gupta, president of the organisation, the members expressed their concern and resentment on the “discriminatory attitude” adopted by the State Government towards Jammu region in the matter of recent selections and appointments of Tehsildars, College and 10+2 lecturers, Assistant Engineers, Assistant surgeons and in other appointments, and also in the matter of selection to the professional institutions. “This prejudicial and communal politics of the Kashmiri dominated State Government towards Jammu region is forcing the people of the region to think to free themselves from the Kashmiri domination and demand for a separate Jammu State,” the members said. The members were critical of the ministers belonging to Jammu region particularly of Congress Party for not showing their concern on the issue, raising no voice and keeping “criminal” silence for their own vested interests. The members in the meeting re-asserted that people of Jammu region should struggle to get rid of Kashmiri domination and demand for a separate Jammu state as this is the only viable alternative left to them to get justice and their aspirations fulfilled. The leaders demanded that if the State Government wants to give fair deal to the people of Jammu region and want their equitable development at par with Kashmir as being repeatedly proclaimed, Jammu region must get 50 per cent share in all the state level services, 100 per cent appointments in the provincial services, besides its share in the State Civil Secretariat be enhanced and made equal to Kashmiri Valley. Others who attended the meeting included Anil Gour, Digvijay Singh, Chandra Uday Sharma, Swarn Sharma, Divender Singh Jamwal and Surjeet Singh.
