| Probe into distribution of funds under IHSDP sought | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Feb 7: Alleging that the money meant for the development of slums under Integrated Housing and Urban Slum Development Programme (IHSDP) has not been paid to deserving people in Basohli, National Conference SC, ST and OBC Cell has demanded high level probe into the matter.
Addressing media persons here, Raja Rafiq, organizer of the cell accused the concerned authorities of favoritism in compiling the list of 128 beneficiaries to whom first installment of rupees thirty thousand has bee paid.
He alleged that the money has been distributed among those living in concrete houses, well off families and blue eyed boys of concerned authorities.
“Even the Government employees and financially well off families were paid under the scheme and genuine ones ignored due to negligence of authorities of Municipal Committee Basohli,” he alleged, adding that some government employees even had managed to get the assistance in the names of their wives.
He said that after five surveys conducted by the authorities, no body dared to rectify the flaws in the list due to influence of concerned higher ups.
He further said that at least twenty families out of the total one hundred and twenty eight were paid out of favor and the needy poor people remain helpless in the process.
When contacted, BJP MLA- Jagdesh Raj Sapolia said that the list was compiled before four years when the houses of those people were completely damaged and during this long period they somehow managed to construct something for shelter.
He said that the allegations leveled against him were baseless as the list of beneficiaries was compiled after proper scruitinization.
The Executive Officer Local Bodies Basohli, Kuldeep Sharma said that the list was compiled by the Tehsildar, Naib-Tehsildar and AEE Basohli after so many verifications.
