| 32 people rescued from Chenab river | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 8 : As many as 32 people, caught in a flash flood, were today rescued from the Chenab river in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir. ''All the 32 people, including drivers and labourers, who were trapped in Chenab river along with their tippers and tractor-trolleys after sudden rise in water last evening, were safely rescued this morning,'' informed SHO Reasi Virender Gupta. A flash flood had come in Chenab river when load carriers were being loaded with sand at Kansi Batta, about 85 km from here. Two people were rescued yesterday while the remaining 32 had to pass night in the vehicles due to rains and darkness which deterred the rescue operation. ''Blankets and food were provided to the stranded people as they preferred to stay for night in their vehicles at safe location,'' the police officer said. Civil administration and army conducted the rescue operation.
