| JJSF protest enters fourth day | | Open Choice row | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Feb 8
Protest demonstrations in favour of concession in syllabus for Three Year Degree Course launched by Jammu Joint Students’ Federation (JJSF) continued on 4th consecutive day today in different city colleges including GGM Science College, SPMR College of Commerce, Government MAM PG College, Government Degree College Paloura and GGM Evening Science College. At GGM Science College, the protest was led by Sahil Choudhary (President GGM Science College) and Abhay Sharma (Vice President GGM Science College). Speaking on the occasion, Sahil alleged that the government as well as Jammu University (JU) authorities are not serious about the granting concession in syllabus adding that they are hurting the sentiments of student community. He warned the authorities that the concession in syllabus was the right of students as the present session experienced very less working days and only 45 percent to 50 percent of syllabus was covered till date. Similar protest was staged at Government MAM PG College, which was led by Varinder Singh (President MAM College), Pawan Singh, Simranjeet Singh and Rapsy. All the classes were boycotted and students gathered at college ground. Addressing students, Varinder Singh said that concession in syllabus was necessary for all the Three year Degree Courses as the result of Part –I & II declared very late and the classes of Part – I were affected by the agitation for Central University. The students of Government Degree College Paloura boycotted their classes under the leadership of Sanjay Sharma. The agitating students gathered near Principal’s office and raised slogans against JU authorities. Students of GGM Evening Science College also boycotted their classes under the leadership of Sumit Gupta and demanded curtailment in syllabus. In SPMR College of Commerce, the protests were lead by Kulvinder Singh and Akash Sharma. Here also, the students boycotted their classes and shouted slogans against JU. Partap Singh Jamwal (State Vice President, JJSF) said that JJSF will fight tooth and nail for the cause of students. He alleged that JU is responsible for the failure of the Higher education system which is damaging the career of thousands of. Others who participated in the protest demonstrations included Jyoti Choudhary, Pardeep Sharma, Vishal Bhat, Sunil Sharma, Tushar Raina, Ashutosh Sharma, Davinder Singh, Vipan Sharma, Rohit Kumar and Niyam Ahmed.
