DIC organizes debate contest

UDHAMPUR, Feb 8: District Information Centre, Udhampur organized a debate contest on the topic “Television: A Friend or Foe” at Government Higher Secondary School, Tikri today in which 10 students of the host school participated.
Miss Manisha Sharma clinched first position, while Miss Anjli Rani and Nisha Rajput bagged second and third positions respectively in the contest. Consolation prizes were given to Sonam Verma and Joyti Sharma. The winners were awarded with prizes and certificates of merit.
Speaking on the occasion, the Principal of the School, Mr. Ashok Kumar lauded the efforts of J&K Information Department in organizing such events in the school. The contest has enabled the students to expose their hidden talent on a common platform which would help in building their self-confidence amongst them. He urged for holding more such programmes in educational institutions for the benefits of students.
The artists of District Information Centre, Udhampur and students of the school presented a skit and scintillating cultural programme on the occasion which was highly appreciated.
