| Lawrence Public School awards meritorious students | | | Early Times report Jammu, Feb 9: Lawrence Public School today celebrated its Annual day today at Abinav Theatre today . Union Minitser for Health Ghulam Nabi Azad was the chief guest on the occasion . The students on the occasion presented various cultural items which were well applauded by the whole audience. Students of the school presented an excellent bonanza of items with the theme ‘Save Tawi from Dying’. The opera presented by the students kept the audience spell bound. The school students took the lead by making Jammu people aware about their responsibilities and duties. The students also made the people aware about the ‘Gift of Nature’ useful for mental and physical well being. The puppet dance performed by the small students depicted, ‘How man is a puppet in the hands of destiny?’ Ghulam Nabi Azad Rolling Trophy’ for academic excellence was presented and awarded to meritorious students of Lawrance Public School. Shammi Kumar and Bhavneet Kaur were given award by Ghulam Nabi Azad Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare. As both students shared equal percentage in their 12th class board exams. Shammi a boy from a very humble background got admission in Sher-e-Kashmir Medical College, Srinagar on his own merit and is also an accomplished Basholi Painting Artists. Bhavneet Kaur too got admission in Government Medical College, Jammu on her own merit and is a roller skating champion with 9 gold medals and 11 silver medals to her credit in championships. Ghulam Nabi Azad who specially came to present the ‘Ghulam Nabi Azad Rolling Trophy’ for the first time was received by Wg Cdr MM Joshi Chairman, Lawrance Public School and Joshi Principal, Lawrance Public School. Ghulam Nabi Azad appreciated the students and blessed them. He appreciated the school authorities for encouraging the students. Rolling Trophy carried a citation and a cash award. The gathering included prominent citizens including cabinet ministers, IAS, IPS officers, and parents of the students.
