| Students highlight importance of water | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT UDHAMPUR, Feb 9: District Information Centre, Udhampur organized a Symposium on the topic “Water is Life” in the premises of Government High School, Mand, about 14 km from district headquarters, yesterday. As many as 10 students participated in the contest and expressed their views on the importance of water and its conservation for sustenance of life on this planet. Shubham Sharma of the host institution was adjudged as best speaker while Mohinder Singh and Deepak Sharma bagged second and third positions respectively. Consolation prizes were also given to Monika Verma and Reena Rani. The participants were awarded prizes and certificates of merit. Speaking on the occasion, the Head Master of the School, Jagdish Chander lauded the efforts of J&K Information Department in organizing the event of great importance in his institution. The contest has exposed student talent which would help in building self-confidence amongst them. He urged for more such programmes in educational institutions. The Artists of District Information Centre, Udhampur and students of the host school also presented a skit and scintillating cultural programme on the occasion which was highly appreciated by the audience.
