| Narrow escape for students as lightning strikes school | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 9 : A large number of students had a miraculous escape from death this morning when lightning struck a high tension wire which fell on their school building at Ghou Manhasan, about 12 km West from here, official sources said. A big flashy beam from sky struck a high tension wire passing over the building of Shiv Public Higher Secondary School, Sari Rakwalan, at about 0930 hrs. ‘’With a big bang, a high tension wire fell on an edge of the triple-storey building and damaged its concrete roof from one side,’’ Principal C L Bhan informed UNI over phone. Bhan said meanwhile,a high voltage electricity passed through the wires fitted in the school and damaged allelectrical and electronic gadgets. SP (Rural Jammu) Mohan Lal, who rushed to the spot immediately after receiving information about the incident, said no one was injured in the incident. ''Students were just coming to school when the lightning struck,'' he said.
