| Farooq, Sagar differ on recent agitation | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, Feb 9:With National Conference president and senior leaders contradicting each other on the recent agitation in the Valley, the lack of coordination in party came to fore today. Dr Farooq while talking to a news agency said that some elements in the armed forces did not want restoration of peace in the state. “They some times do such acts that force the people to come out on the roads”, he said. Farooq said some clues about recent killings reflect the “sordid state of affairs in the armed forces”. He said the issue shall be taken up with New Delhi soon. However, senior leaders including Ali Muhammad Sagar and Mubarak Gul accused the peoples democratic party (PDP) of encouraging, sponsoring and funding the stone pelters in Srinagar and elsewhere in the Valley for its petty political interests. Addressing a convention of workers at Nawa-e-Subh complex today, law and parliamentary affairs minister, Ali Muhammad Sagar said the PDP blew the Amarnatji land grant issue out of proportion. “The agitation that ensued left more than sixty persons dead and created a wedge between Jammu region and the Valley.” Sagar said the PDP was spending huge amount of money to finance the stone pelters. “We are keenly watching such elements. Nobody shall be spared for harming peace and developmental works in the state”, he said. Chief Minister’s political advisor, Davinder Rana stressed need for strengthening the party. “We are all party workers and we musty work to make the party strong. We must follow the path shown by Sher-e-Kashmir, Dr Farooq Abdullah and Sheikh Nazir”, he said. Member legislative assembly, Mubarak Gul lashed out at PDP leadership for “promoting corruption in the state.” He said: “During Mufti’s regime public funds were given to party workers in the garb of constructing buildings in various hospitals of the state”, he said. He accused Mufti of harming the unity and integrity of Jammu Kashmir. A number of junior leaders including Srinagar Mayor, Salman Sagar addressed the convention.
