Omar addressed a press conference this afternoon at his Gupkar residence. Omar said he believed in dialogue. “Dialogue alone can solve the problems. I wish the dialogue starts soon so that a peaceful solution to the vexed problem is chalked out”, he said. When asked about frequent strike calls given by Hurriyat Conference, Omar said: “In a democratic set up people have a right to protest. However, in the garb of this right nobody should try to disrupt peace”, he said. Omar said nobody shall be allowed to disrupt peace. “Hurriyat leaders who create law and order problems shall be punished”, he said. On AFSPA repeal Omar said: “Law and order and militancy are two separate things. The armed forces make use of AFSPA while fighting the militants”, he said. Omar said his government was committed to zero tolerance on human rights.
