| Streamline power distribution system in Valley: CPI | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Feb 10
Communist Party of India (Marxist) and MLA Kulgam, M Y Tarigami has expressed anguish over the power scenario in the valley. “The administration seems to be non-serious over the issue of providing electricity to the people as the people of the valley are facing acute hardships during the chilly winters,” said Tarigami. He alleged that despite tall claims and promises of providing electricity to the people of the valley during peak hours of winter season the same is not translated on ground with the result the people are disillusioned with the administration. “The south Kashmir is the worst victim of the department’s apathy as far as distribution of electricity from 220KV Grid Pampore is concerned,” he said and stressed to streamline the distribution system so that all areas get equal load/treatment in respect of power supply. He reiterated his demand for earmarking at least Rs 2 crores for each constituency to tackle the electricity related problems. He further criticized the administration for relying on exclusively on police to suppress the people where-ever they protest for the redressal of their grievances, be it providing of electricity, food, drinking water supply like in Bogund, Kulgam.
