| Prominent Gujjar leaders of state switch loyalty to BJP | | |

National Conference, Peoples Democratic Party and Congress are no more the parties where Gujjars feel comfortable except those enjoying luxury in the name of community. Gujjars of the state now feel they could achieve what they did not in last sixty years by switching to Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP). In a fresh development more than 60 prominent members of Gujjar Community from Kupwara, Bandipora, Baramulla, Ganderbal, Rajouri and Poonch joined BJP at party headquarters here and expressed complete faith in the party leadership. Party State President Shamsher Singh Manhas garlanded new entrants and welcomed them in party fold.
While addressing the new entrants into the party fold, Shamsher Singh Manhas said that BJP is the only political party which has always promoted the workers who are committed to its principles and policies. He said BJP’s leaders of the day are the people who were ground level workers yesterday and have reached high positions by dint of their hard work. “In BJP, it is the work which speaks, while in Congress, NC and PDP, only birth in a particular family matters. In these parties chair remains in one family only. These parties have become dynastic parties, while BJP is not a dynastic party but a party of workers only”.
Manhas said that the BJP represents true picture of secularism and nationalism. While the Congress indulges in appeasement of a particular faith for vote bank politics, the BJP stands for equal treatment to all the sections of the society without any discrimination on the basis of religion, region, caste, colour or creed. Similarly, regional parties like NC and PDP only work for promoting the cause of a particular region of the state and ignore the other regions but BJP always favours equal treatment to all the three regions of the state in all matters and in all spheres. BJP Chief said that more and more people are embracing BJP in the state as well as other parts of the country as they have realized that it is the BJP only which stands for unity and integrity of the country by strengthening the nationalist forces in the state and else where.
Ch. Bashir Ahmed Jagal, Abdul Rashid, Abdul Majid, Haji Mohd. Yousuf, Mohd. Akram, Bashir Ahmed Konshi, Phulla Begum, Ghulam Hasan Mir, Riaz Ahmed, Sakina Begum and Mohd. Younus were prominent among those who joined the BJP.BJP State Treasurer Sat Sharma, Press Secretary Balbir Ram, Kashmir BJP Provincial Secretaries Nazir Ahmed Raina and Sheikh Abdul Rashid were also present on the occasion.
Meanwhile, BJP Jammu East Mandal President Sunil Dogra, in consultation with the State President Shamsher Singh Manhas and the District President Rajesh Gupta, has constituted the Mandal team. The new team has Pardeep Sharma, Kuldeep Kandhari and Vidya Devi as Vice-Presidents, Anil Masoom as General Secretary, Surinder Mahajan, Ajesh Khajuria and Girdhari Lal as Secretary, Vijay Maghajan as Spokesman, Rajesh Bhalla as Press Secretary, Ajesh Magotra as Treasurer, Sonu Kumar as Publicity Secretary. Mandal working committee members are Satpal Rathore, Vijya Raina, Tarsem Jain, Chaman Lal Mehra, Suraj Parkash, Charanjit, Pawan Pandoh, Ram Prasad, Subash Pansari, Raj Kumar Gupta, Varun Gupta Ashish Gupta, Sanjay Kumar, Balraj Gupta, Mohan Dutta, Raju Sharma and Ravinder Kumar. Besides, all the BJP corporators of Jammu East will also be the working committee members of the Mandal
