Parade College bags ‘Group Song’ contest in JU

JAMMU, Feb 10
The final phase of the “Display Your Talent 2009-10” being by the Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu commenced with the “Group Song (Indian)” event here today.
The team from Government College for Women, Parade, clinched the first prize whereas the team from the Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar and the team from the Government College for Women, Udhampur bagged the second and third prizes respectively.
The MIER College of Education, Cosmic College of Education, Lakhanpur and Kalara College of Education, Udhampur were awarded the Certificates of Merit.
G M Bhat, Chairman, Campus Cultural Committee, was the chief guest on the occasion. The programme started with the lighting of traditional lamp by Prof G.M. Bhat, Prof Kuldeep K. Sharma, Director, DIQA, Prof Versha Mehta, Prof D.S. Jamwal, President, Jammu University Teachers Association, Prof Narinder Tripathi and Prof Jasbir Singh.
Kailash Mehra, Brij Mohan and Arvind Sharma, were the adjudicators for the event. The competition was conducted under the supervision of Arti Bakshi, teacher incharge. She also apprised the participants about the rules and regulations of the contest.
Thirteen teams from the various colleges, affiliated to the University of Jammu including the R.K Degree College, Vijaypur, Guru Teg Bahadur College of Education, Lakhanpur, Sai Shyam College of Education, Kawa College of Education, Luthra College of Education, Dogra College of Education, Government SPMR College of Commerce, Cosmic College of Education, Lakhanpur, Govt. College for Women, Parade, Jammu, Govt. College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, Govt. College for Women, Udhampur, MIER College of Education and Kalara College of Education, Udhampur participated.
The programme was coordinated by Vijay Atri, Assistant Dean (Cultural Affairs). The proceedings were conducted by Rameshwari Slathia, Secretary Students Cultural Council whereas Kulbhushan Thakur, acted as the time keepers.
In the ongoing competition, there would be Classical Vocal (Solo) contest tomorrow at Brig. Rajinder Singh Auditorium on the Campus.
