| Chib inspects ITI, orders suspension of 3 officials | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Feb 10 Government is committed to strengthen existing Industrial Training Institutes (ITI’s) with capable faculty as well as equipment, besides opening 50 new ITI’s in uncovered areas of the state. This was stated by Minister for Technical and Medical Education RS Chib while interacting with a section of media persons after paying surprise visit to ITI, RS Pura here today. On checking the attendance of the Institute, the Minister found three officials absent from duty. He directed the Director Technical Education, Mohammad Shafi Rather, accompanying him, to immediately put them under suspension. Chib also directed for taking appropriate action against students of the Institute involved in indiscipline and who remain absent from the classes. Minister also directed to formulate a detailed proposal for renovation of the ITI complex and beautification of the lawns of the institute. He also asked the Director to submit a comprehensive report, with specific recommendations for reconstituting Institute Management Committee (IMC) so that the mandate to the committee as provided under Vocational Training Improvement Project (VTIP) scheme was implemented in letter and spirit. Later, interacting with the students and staff of the Institute, Chib impressed upon them to be punctual and regular so that the very purpose of setting up of this institute was fulfilled. He said that the Central Government has sanctioned, more than 100 Skill Development Centres, under its Skill Development Mission, for providing short term courses to educated youth, so that, on completion of these courses, the trained manpower is accommodated in public and private sectors, thus solving unemployment crisis to some extent.
