| Dy CM inaugurates historic Shiv Khori Mela | | | Early Times Report Jammu, FEBRUARY 11-The revered Shiv Khori Mela was inaugurated by Deputy Chief Minister, Tara Chand amid prayers and religious oblations at Ransoo, the base camp of holy cave shrine of Shiv Khori, about 130 kms from Jammu today. Whishing lasting peace and prosperity in the state of Jammu & Kashmir, the Deputy Chief Minister said that all efforts are being made for the promotion and beautification of Shiv Khori Shrine, which is now, by all measures, emerging as the second most important pilgrimage destination in Jammu region after Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine. The Deputy Chief Minister said that since the inception of Shri Shiv Kohori Shrine Board in 2003, heavy influx of pilgrims are being witnessed at the majestic cave shrine of “App Shamboo”- Lord Shiva, not only from the State, but from across the country . The Board has initiated many steps for providing the basic infrastructural and other facilities to the visiting pilgrims, he said and issued on the spot instructions to the District Development Commissioner, Reasi, who is also the Vice Chairman of Shri Shiv Khori Shrine Board for identification of land for construction of waiting sheds and langer sites for pilgrims, both at Ransoo and at Cave site and alternate route for the ponies. Mr. Tara Chand said that Master Plan for the development of village Ransoo is at final stage of approval and as soon as it was approved, the base camp of Shri Shiv Khori Shrine Cave, would witness its planned development on modern lines. The Deputy Chief Minister said that special efforts are being made to divert the pilgrimage rush from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi to other tourist and pilgrimage destinations in the state. For the purpose a tourist circuit, connecting various destinations having tourism potential, is being chalked out, he added.
