| Surrender policy for militants | | JSM accuses Omar of interference in foreign affairs | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Feb 11:
Jammu State Morcha (JSM) has described the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s advocacy for amnesty and rehabilitation of Kashmiri militants in Pakistan as “irresponsible” and “illogical” remarks amounting to interference in the foreign affairs and security matters of the country. In a press statement issued here today, Virender Gupta, president and Anil Gour vice president JSM criticized Omar Abdullah for his statements and alleged that he, as the Chief Minister and his party, National Conference, have utterly failed in controlling the situation in the Valley. The leaders observed that it is a hard fact that infiltration from across the borders has increased and the militant training camps across the border and even in some parts of the State have been re-activated. “In such like situation asserting for talks with Pakistan and the militant groups to resolve the Kashmir issue, demanding political solution like granting greater autonomy to J&K, establishing railway link between Valley and Muzfrabad, withdrawal of security forces, advocating removal of AFSPA and new surrender policy for militants are childish and foolish propositions,” they said, adding such suggestions instead of improving the situation would create problems. The JSM leaders appealed to the Union government not yield before the “unreasonable” and “unrealistic” demands of Omar, saying these demands are against the interests and integrity of the country. Alleging that National Conference leadership is exploiting the situation for their own interests, they demanded that no negotiations with Pakistan be held on Kashmir issue and Pakistan should be asked to disband the terrorist camps in POK and in its territory. Besides, they also demanded no concessions to the anti- India and secessionist forces, tightening of security both internal and on the borders in the State, end to the trade with PoK through borders, settlement of issues concerning PoK refugees and West Pakistan refugees and compensation for migrants from Doda, Kishtwar, Reasi, Poonch and Rajauri districts be treated and compensated at par with those from the Kashmir Valley.
