| 2 Tiger aides, 2 farmers found guilty in '93 case | | |
Mumbai, Oct 11 A TADA court today convicted four accused in the 1993 serial blasts case -- two aides of mastermind absconding conspirator Tiger Memon and two farmers from Raigad -- for their complicity in the explosions, taking the total number of those found guilty so far to 39.
Tiger's aide Yusuf Khan alias Kayuum Kasam Khan was found guilty under the Terrorist and Disruptive Activities (Prevention) Act of transporting arms and explosives which were smuggled from Pakistan to commit acts of terror here.
However, he was acquitted of the charge of conspiracy framed against him under IPC.
Another associate of Tiger, Suleman Mohammed Kasam Ghawte, was found guilty of participating in the conspiracy, landing of arms and explosives at Shekhadi coast in Raigad district of Maharashtra on February 3, 1993 and transporting the contraband from Shekhadi to Panvel.
Ghawte was convicted under the TADA act for aiding and abetting acts of terrorism.
However, he was acquitted of charges of receiving arms training at Sandheri village in Raigad district.
Judge P D Kode observed that the prosecution had failed to proves charges of arms training in the case of Ghawte.
The two farmers convicted today for their complicity in the case are Rashid Omar Alware and Abdul Aziz Gharatkar.
