| Saroori asks people to take benefits of RTI Act | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Anantnag, Feb 12
Emphasizing on the benefits of National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA) and its capacity to generate prosperity in the rural sections of the society, Minister for Roads & Buildings (R&B) GM Saroori stressed upon district administrations of Anantnag and Kulgam to minimize creation of infrastructure by way of this scheme. He impressed upon the officers to spent funds on the schemes judiciously to achieve better results. While deliberating upon the right to information Act (RTA), Saroori asked the people to seek information about their interests from the concerned departments as and when required. Saroori was today participating in a public Darbar at Anantnag, wherein delegations and representatives of people ventilated their problems before the minister. A score of people from villages of far flung areas of Anantnag and Kulgam highlighted their problems including power, drinking, water, construction and repairs of roads and enhancing and up-gradation of health facilities in the existing hospitals, applications for ownership of lands under Roshni scheme. Minister assured the people that their problems would be mitigated and in this regard gave on the spot necessary instructions to the concerned departments Saroori also visited Sherbagh and MMA Baig hospitals and took stock of the functioning of these heath institutions. Minister announced Rs10 lakh for Sherbagh hospital. During his inspection of MMA Baig hospital, the minister suspended store keeper for not giving satisfactory replies to the queries made by him with regard to availability of medicines. Later, the minister also presided over district level officers meeting. MLCs Mohammad Amin Bhat and Mohammad Altaf Kaloo, Commissioner Secretary R&B, Chief Engineers of R&B and PMGSY, SSP Anantnag and officers of district administration were present. Earlier GM Saroori also visited office of Assistant Director Food and took stock of position of food-grains.
