| MoS Power inspects Grid Stations at Jammu, Rajouri | | |

Minister of State for Power and CA&PD, Shabir Ahmed Khan has said that government is paying focused attention for up-gradation of Power Sector in the State, adding that work on several new Power Projects and high transmission lines is being taken up to overcome power shortage in the State. This was stated by the Minister today during his visit to various Grid Stations of Jammu and Rajouri districts. While visiting 320 MVA Grid Station at Baran, Jammu, the Minister said that the capacity of this Grid Station would be upgraded upto 480 MVA. He said this would improve the power supply in several areas of Jammu and Rajouri districts. He said in this regard a project report of Rs 18 Crore has been formulated and after its approval the extension work would start soon. Minister took a round of the Grid Station and inspected its various Units. He was apprised that the Grid Station was being constructed on modern lines and is feeding a part of Jammu city and its outskirt besides various areas of Akhnoor Tehsil. Shabir also inspected under execution 132 KVA double phase high transmission line laying from Baran Grid Station to Akhnoor Grid Station at a cost of Rs 5.50 Crore. He directed the concerned executing agency to work on fast track basis and ensure its completion before the end of current fiscal. Minister also took stock of Grid Stations at Akhnoor, Sunderbani, Siot, Solki and Kalakote. He also visited the site of Thermal Power Projects, Kalakote and instructed the concerned Authorities to remove land encroachments of the Project. He directed the Engineers to formulate a detailed project report for extension of Akhnoor Grid Station besides renovation of employee’s quarters there. He also asked for fencing of Grid Station and undertaking other repairs. Enroute to Rajouri, the Minister inspected construction work of 53 KMs long New High Transmission Double Phase Line from Akhnoor to Siot, Rajouri. The construction of this New Transmission Line is in a pace at an estimated cost of Rs 26 Crore and would be completed by end of December this year. Shabir said that work on 50 MVA’s Power Grid Stations at Siot, Katra and Pouni Chak have been taken up at a total estimated cost of Rs 50 Crore on turnkey basis and the project is expected to be completed by end of next fiscal. Minister exhorted upon the concerned engineers and officers to remove the bottlenecks and work with synergy with other concerned Departments for early execution of pending projects. He impressed upon them to work with utmost dedication for the welfare of the people and building a viable and concrete power infrastructure in the State. Chief Engineer, Operations and Systems, Jammu, Sanam Gilson, Superintendent Engineer, Operations and Systems Jatinder and Senior Engineers accompanied the Minister.
