| Another setback to PDP as Tassaduq Hussain contemplates to join Cong? | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 12 Is Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) heading towards another defection? If sources in PDP are to be believed, another top prominent party leader of Jammu region is contemplating on joining Congress party-major coalition ally in present regime. After bearing a major set back, following former Minister of State and party’s senior leader Manjit Singh shaking hands with Congress in Vijaypur, it is learnt that another mass base leader and a close aide of former chief minister and PDP’s patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed is in touch with Congress leadership here as well as at New Delhi to get into the party folds. Though the top leadership on PDP and Congress are tightlipped over the issue having their fingers crossed till such a political development takes place, sources in PDP indicated that one of the prominent party leaders from Rajouri district, Tassaduq Hussain-popularly known as Master Tassaduq Hussain-is likely to join Congress. “Ever since, Hussain lost the last Assembly election from Rajouri constituency, that too from a small margin of few hundred votes, he preferred to remain away from PDP activities,” sources in PDP revealed to Early Times, further adding that “he even did not attend a meeting of party’s senior leaders chaired by Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, organized few weeks ago, here in Jammu. Furthermore, PDP leaders received complaints against Hussain for not actively participating in previous Lok Sabha election and instead supported Congress candidate from Jammu-Poonch constituency, undercover.” Meanwhile, insiders in Congress shared that “though no official communiqué has been conveyed by the party high command in this regard but gossip in the party circle is quiet high that Master Tassaduq Hussain may join Congress.” “Senior PDP leader is in regular touch with Ministers and senior leaders of both Ghulam Nabi Azad and Saif-Ud-Din Soz’ camp to discuss how better he can be accommodated in the party fold,” informed sources in Congress
