| JKPCC allows 8 rebels to rejoin party | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Feb 13
Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) today accepted the request of eight dissidents, who had contested the last Assembly elections against the party in 2009, to return into party fold. As per the press statement issued here, JKPCC president and former Union Minister, Saif-ud-Din Soz said, “It was during the last elections to the State Assembly that some of the party functionaries had chosen to contest against the party candidates,” adding that the party had taken objection to their behaviour and conveyed disciplinary action against such persons. In the meantime, many of these leaders have expressed regret for their decision that had invited the party’s displeasure and they had expressed their desire to work in the party again, Soz said. The JKPCC maintained that some of them even had also forward and helped the party during the last parliamentary elections. He said that the Party has accepted the request of these leaders to return to the party fold and play the role as the party would assign to them from time to time. The dissidents whose willingness to rejoin party accepted by the Congress high command are Khwaja Ghulam Rasool Kar, former president JK PCC, Mohammad Maqbool bhat, former president DCC Pulwama, Abdul Qayoom Shah, Shopian, Fayaz Ahmed, Rajpora-Pulwama, Thakur Shiv Dev Singh, ex-MLA, Pankaj Dogra, Kathua, Choudhary Qamar Hussian, Rajouri and R S Pathania, Udhampur. The statement further maintained that the request of other leaders, who had also contested the elections against the Congress, to rejoin are under consideration and the decision would be announced in due course of time.
