| Rs 1.63 crore for upgradation of water facilities at Raipur-Satwari: Bhalla | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Feb 13: Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Raman Bhalla has said that the Coalition Government was endeavouring hard to provide adequate drinking water facilities in every nook and corner of the State. The Minister was speaking after laying 1400 meter water supply pipes at Raipur-Satwari and Jeevan Nagar, to be completed at a cost of Rs. 17 lakh. Bhalla said that Government has approved Rs. 1.63 lakh for upgrading the drinking water infrastructure in Raipur-Satwari and adjoining areas. He said that instructions have been issued to concerned departments to dig hand pumps in rural as well as urban areas to meet the requirement of drinking water in summer season. Responding to the local demands, the Minister asked the Power Development Department to install 25 poles in so far uncovered areas of the Raipur-Satwari village. He asked the Irrigation Department to start the work on irrigation distributory at Bua Ditta Mohalla in Raipur Satwari, estimated to cost Rs. 7 lakh. Earlier, at Nanak Nagar, a function was organised by J&K Rashtriya Language Parchar Samiti (JKLPS). Chairman JKLPS Prof. Sat Paul Srivastava, Councillor Nanak Nagar Kulbushan Sharma, students, teaching and non-teaching staff members was present on the occasion. Bhalla distributed certificates among the participants. Later, the Minister attended the Annual Day Function of Dewan Devi Higher Secondary School, Rajpura Mangotrian. He also distributed prizes among the students who excelled in academic and co-curricular activities in 2009-10 sessions.
