| Sakina distributes artificial limbs, hearing aids among disabled | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, February 13: Minister for Social Welfare, Sakina Itoo today distributed artificial limbs, hearing aids and wheel chairs among the beneficiaries of Rajouri district at a free distribution camp at Rajouri. The camp was organised by Composite Regional Centre (CRC) in which 6 wheel chairs, 6 try cycles, 44 hearing aids, 24 walking sticks among the 100 beneficiaries of District Rajouri were provided. Minister of State for Power, Shabir Ahmad Khan was also present on the occasion. The Minister also distributed cheques amounting to Rs. 22.03 lakh among the students of Backward and Social Caste communities, militancy victims and other categories. Speaking at the occasion, Sakina said that the Government has opened separate counters for old age pensioners and widows in the Social Welfare Department. She said that J&K Bank is being approached for opening of counters for the purpose. She called upon the needy people to come forward and avail the benefits of the schemes launched by the Government for their welfare. In his address, Shabir Khan has said that the Government had launched a massive development plan in the State and with liberal funding from the Centre it would change the Socio economic profile of the State. The Minister also appreciated the role of Director, Composite Regional Centre and Director, Rehabilitation for providing assistance among the deserving people. She asked them to work with missionary spirit for the welfare of unprivileged persons. In his welcome speech, Director, CRC, Dr. Reyaz Untoo outlined the broad objectives of his organisation. Executive Director, Rehabilitation Council, Irshad Ahmad, MLA, Bimla Luthra, former legislator, Mohammad Aslam also spoke at the occasion. District Development Commissioner, Rajouri JP Singh, Managing Director, J&K Women Development Corporation, Dr. Nahida Soz, SSP, Rajouri, Shafqat Ahmad Watali was also present.
