| Need for nurturing hidden talent of rural youth: Sham | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Feb 13: Minister for Health, Horticulture & Floriculture Sham Lal Sharma has stressed the need for nurturing the hidden talent of youth in academic and in extra-curricular activities. He said students from far-flung areas have proved their worth in sports and academic fields and brought laurel to the State. The Minister was speaking at an Annual Day function of Government Girls Middle School, Kandi in Akhnoor today. Sham said that Government is committed to ensure quality education for the students at their doorsteps and a chain of schools has been established in the rural areas during the past 4-5 years in Akhnoor area. Similarly, he said a substantial number of schools have been upgraded to meet the requirements of the rural catchment areas, he added. He said that most of the rural areas of Akhnoor constituency have been connected with the concrete road and efforts are on to cover the remaining areas also. Sharma asked the people to make collective efforts for the development of their areas and project the demands in a systematic way after fixing the priorities. The Minister issued instructions to the engineers to undertake construction of two rooms and boundary wall of the school by ending March. On the occasion, the students presented colourful of cultural activities which were highly appreciated by the audience. Officers of various departments and prominent citizens were present on the occasion.
