| Jora lays foundation of development of Peer Kho shrine | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Feb 13: Minister for Tourism & Culture, Nawang Rigzin Jora has said that development of pilgrim places in the State tops the agenda of the Government. He said a massive infrastructure development programme have been initiated to provide added facilities to the pilgrim tourists coming to these places. The Minister was speaking after laying the foundation stone of development of ancient Shiv Temple, Peer Khoh. Rs 3.50 crore are being expended for creation of infrastructure at the pilgrim site which includes construction of Rs 63 lakh Tourist Reception Centre, Rs. 86 lakh retaining wall, Rs 68 lakh Park and landscaping besides an Akhara and Amphi theatre, bathing ghats, footpaths, walkways and gateways to Park and temple. The construction of these works would be completed by end of next financial year. Minister of State for Tourism and Culture, Nasir Aslam Wani, Member Parliament, Madan Lal Sharma, MLA, Jammu East, Ashok Khajuria, former MLA, Yogesh Sawhani, District Development Commissioner, Jammu, Managing Director, JKTDC and Director Tourism Jammu and other officers besides Peer Ratan Nath and Peer Ravi Nath of Peer Kho Temple were present on the occasion. Giving details of the initiatives taken by the Government for tourism promotion in the region, the Minister said that seven tourism development authorities, besides three tourist circuits have been established in various areas of the region under which Rs 158 crore are being spent. He said focused attention is being also paid for restoration and conservation of heritage sites in the region, adding that over Rs 230 crore are being expended on the restoration works of Mubarak Mandi complex, Bahu Fort and other monuments of the region. He said the first phase of Rs. 44 crore 18 hole Sidhra Golf Course would be ready by March. Nasir Aslam Wani, Member Parliament, Madan Lal Sharma and MLA East, Jammu, Ashok Khajuria also spoke on the occasion.
