| NCP constitutes ex-servicemen cell, demands reservation | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 13: Addressing NCP ex-servicemen cell, former Minister Thakur Randhir Singh and State President NCP said that state has got more than 5 Lakh ex servicemen, of whose rich experiences and dedication towards their profession could be used in various fields. Successive governments have forsaken the ex-servicemen said Singh and demanded reserving their quota in police, in various government department and also in private sector as most of the ex-servicemen are retiring at early age. Singh demanded from the central and state govt rising of Border scouts like Ladakh scouts to defend International border, LOC after recruiting one person from each family from the border villages and also ex-servicemen in this force to handle the present situation. Singh appealed the ex-servicemen to utilize the schemes of National Horticulture Board in growing Horticulture commodities like Aromatic and Medicinal plants, vegetables and other crops and avail 20% subsidy from NHIB and appealed to state govt to grant 20% matching grant from state funds in addition to NHB 20% subsidy to the horticulture growers like the state of Chandigarh, Jharkhand for the benefit of the growers. Singh also demanded from the Maharashtra government reservation for the ex-servicemen children in various engineering college likewise when this concession is already granted to the security forces while serving in Jammu and Kashmir. Why not this concession should be extended after the retirement of the ex-servicemen to their children, Singh asked. The newly formed ex-servicemen cell chairman Col (retd) Amar Singh and other office bearers assured NCP chief that they will organize Tehsil, Distt commities of NCP ex-servicemen cell throughout the state and will strengthen the NCP. Lochan Singh Manhas, General Secretary, Ram Paul Sharma, (Retd. Flight Lt) Vice Chariman, Maulana Mohd Younis Retd Subedar as secretary, Ashok Singh Manhas, organizing Secretary, Capt Onkar Singh Bhau, Jt secretary also attended the m,eeting.
