| JMC books 21 defaulters | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 13:
Continuing the drive against the use of Polythene carry bags within the municipal limits which have been banned by the state government, the Enforcement wing of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) led by Chief Enforcement Officer seized polythene carry bags from shops/rehries and others outlets at Bikram Chowk and Gandhi Nagar. About 30 kgs of Polythene carry bags were seized by the team of Enforcement wing of Corporation. During the inspections, 21 defaulters were challaned and Rs. 4000 was charged as fine from them for using the Polythene carry Bags under the provisions of J&K Municipal Corporation Act 2000. Besides this, the Enforcement staff also conducted anti-encroachment drive in the areas from Satwari Chowk to Gangyal and removed encroachments made by the shopkeepers/ vendors upon parts of roads/footpaths and pavements in these areas. During the drive goods/articles which were kept by encroaching upon parts of roads/footpaths and pavements were seized which included Create Bamboos, Weighing Machines, Tables, Wipers, Benches, Dusters and Footwear.Enforcement staff also removed about three numbers of temporary structures raised along the roadside in these areas.
