| JHS welcomes Peer Kho Project | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 13: Jammu Heritage Society (JHS) has expressed gratitude to Member of Parliament Madan Lal Sharma in getting Rs 3.5 crore sanctioned by the central government for the project of heritage center at historic Peer Kho temple and adjoining premises. A meeting of the society held here today under the chairmanship of its President Baldev Khullar, welcoming the undertaking of Peer Kho Heritage Project. Addressing the meeting, Khullar said that the project will help promote pilgrimage tourism in Jammu. It noted that Jamvant cave and temple at Peer Kho is the only one in the country and hence it has special significance for the devotees from all over the country. The society also thanked Tourism Minister Nawang Ringzing Jora, MoS Tourism Nasir Aslam Wani, former minister Yogesh Shawnney, sitting MLA from Jammu East Ashok Khajuria and Rattan Nath, Mahant of the temple, for their efforts and contributions in getting the project through. The society demanded that adequate funds should be earmarked for the maintenance of this project. Jammu Heritage society further pleaded for construction of a heritage gate at historic Gummat, which too should be declared as a heritage site besides tomb of Naughazia Peer and Hanuman Mandir at Gummat which are historical places too should be given the same status. The other office beares of the society who attended the meeting included Chairman Om Prakash Mahajan, Vice Presidents Ajesh Rohmetra and Ashwini Arora, Secretary Sanjeev Kalia and Treasurer Naresh Chander. |
