| Fulfill requisite parameters or face action: Sham to Nursing Homes | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Feb13:
Minister for Health, Sham Lal Sharma has expressed concern over the unlawful functioning of various Nursing Homes, Diagnostics Centres, Clinics in the state and asked the designated body to initiate appropriate action against them within five days. While chairing the high-level meeting of officers here today, the Minister clarified that time granted by the Supreme Court of India to such Nursing Homes to fulfill the necessary parameters has been expired and directed the Regulatory Body to strictly enforce the law. The Minister said that Hon,ble Court as well as State Government provided ample time to the owners of the Nursing Homes/Diagnostics Centres to full-fill the required parameters but they have failed in doing so. Now there is no excuse for any one, but they have to face the action. Minister said that Government has reports that these so called Nursing Homes are grossly violating the set norms and indulging in cheating and harassing the poor people, adding that Government cannot sit as mute spectator and will save the people from their high-headedness. Sham Lal said that government will also constitute a committee of experts which will suggest changes in the existing Nursing Homes Act which came into being during 1963. The Regulatory Body will also be given more teeth to deal with the defaulters, he maintained. Meanwhile, Health Minister has directed the concerned to ensure display of rate lists for activities undertaken, list of doctors, para-medics working/practicing in the private Nursing Homes within five days for the convenience of people. Principal Secretary, Health and Medical Education, Dr RK Jerath, Director Health Services, Jammu, Dr Jasbir Singh, Controller, Drugs and Food Organization, Satish Gupta and other officers of Health Department were present in the meeting.
