| SC/ST/OBC to gherao Assembly on Mar15 | | |

Protesting government’s anti SC/ST/OBC approach All India Confederation of SC/ST/OBC organizations threatened to gherao State Assembly on March 15. It was announced by State President of the Confederation R K Kalsotra here today.
Kalsotra highlight the pressing demands of these communities in the State and warned government against carrying out any actions prejudiced to the interests of these communities. Kalsotra said that wider protests and agitation against the government's non committal and casual approach towards SC/ST/OBC's of the state are to be launched if issues are not solved.
He said that the Confederation has been forced to resort to massive peaceful protest march on 15th of March 2010 to gherao the State Assembly to invite government's attention to refrain from enactment of any anti SC/ST/OBC laws and policies and instead to implement Constitutional safeguards available to them and reservation of posts in accordance with the population of these communities in the state. It was further apprised that by trying to ban inter-district recruitment, the government seeks to unconstitutionally deprive the SC/ST/OBC communities of their constitutional guarantees as such, it should either stop such move or alternately provide reservation to SC/ST/OBC's according to their population in each district. Roshan Din Chodhary, Vice President, Rohit Verma, State Secretary, Mohd. Abdullah Chodhary, General Secretary of the Confederation also spoke on the occasion.
