| All-round development of weaker sections Govt’s priority: Shabir | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT MANJAKOTE, Feb 14
Minister of State for Power and CAPD, Shabir Ahmad Khan today distributed Cheques worth Rs 7.20 Lakh among 40 Below Poverty Line (BPL) families of block Manjakote, Rajouri as financial assistance for construction of dwelling units. Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that the Government has launched various welfare schemes for socio-economic development of weaker sections of the society, especially those living in backward and hilly areas of the State. He said, under these schemes the deserving people could take financial assistance for the construction of their houses, setting up of income generating units, scholarships, financial assistance and pensions. Minister called upon the people to come forward and contact respective welfare agencies of their areas for availing the benefits of these schemes. Shabir said reaching out to remote and hilly areas for all-round progress is the first priority of government. He said prompt response to public demands has been underlined as focused areas. Minister said that the government was determined to ensure welfare of all sections of the society by providing a just system of governance, adding that people’s participation in development process is being encouraged to make schemes more effective. Shabir reaffirmed that no stone would be left unturned in transforming socio-economic development of border district of Rajouri. He said the area is getting its due share in development process and progress in every sector is being closely monitored. Stating that grass root governance would be given a fillip by empowering the Panchayats, the Minister called upon the people to participate in large numbers in forthcoming Panchayat elections, which he said would go a long way in upliftment of the condition of the masses.
