Respect teachers for gaining more knowledge: Bhalla to students

UDHAMPUR, Feb 15:

Terming the students as future of nation, Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Raman Bhalla today exhorted upon the parents and teachers to put in their sincere and dedicated efforts in shaping the lives of children so that they could become good citizen and compete globally.
Minister was speaking at 6th Annual Day Function of KC Gurukul Public School Jakhar, here on Monday.
Bhalla stressed the need for quality education, based on moral values for the overall development of the students adding that teachers could play a pivotal role in this regard.
Minister said, ‘earlier, the students used to call teachers 'Guru' and now it’s the contemporary 'Sir' or 'Madam'. Nevertheless, the role of teachers has remained the same. They were, are and will continue to be beacon lights for the society, creating conditions conducive to overall development of the students’. He called upon students to respect their teachers for gaining more knowledge.
He said that the government has launched various schemes to improve the education sector in the state by opening new and upgrading existing schools to the next level, especially in the far-off areas of the state.
Bhalla also informed that a proposal for opening of administrative units in remote and far-off areas is under active consideration of the government adding that with the opening of such units, the people of far-off areas would be able to redress their revenue related issues at their doorstep.
He further said that instructions were already issued to the concerned revenue officers for early settlement of land acquisition cases of national highway widening and other road projects for timely execution of various projects in the district.
On the occasion, students of the school presented a colorful cultural programme which was highly appreciated by the audience.
Chairman, Arvind Mahajan, Academic Director, Vijay Puri, Chief Education Officer, Udhampur, S K Gandotra, Councilors, prominent citizens, parents, students, teaching and non-teaching staff of the institution were present on the occasion.
Earlier, at Jammu, Bhalla laid the foundations of various developmental works including construction of lanes and drains at Karan Bagh at the cost of Rs 5.20 lakh while link roads at Bandhu Rakh, Ambedkar Nagar, Channi Biza and Greater Jammu involving a cost of Rs 28.40 lakh.
Bhalla asked the executing agencies to complete taken up works within stipulated time frame for the convenience of the general masses.
Later, the Minister visited Channi Himmat, Sector-7, where a large number of locals called on the Minister and projected their demands including, provision for parking slot near Cremation Ground, renaming of Channi Himmat park as Rajiv Gandhi Park, construction of Malli hut, lighting facilities in the Park, uninterrupted power supply in the metered areas, construction of stadium on available land and construction of Nallah edge walls at Balmiki colony.
