| Indo-Pak dialogue must continue: Mehbooba | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SURANKOTE, Feb 15: Expressing her grief and anguish over loss of innocent lives in Pune blast, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) today said that these “cowardice acts” orchestrated by those forces who were opposed to the process on restoring peace in this region. Addressing a meeting of party workers at Surankote, Mehbooba Mufti, president PDP while strongly condemning Pune incident, said that motive of the perpetrators of violence seem to be to create fear among people to derail the peace process. She, however, exuded confidence that such attempt would not allow to be succeeded by the pro-peace forces in this sub-continent. Terming killing of innocent people at “barbaric” act, she made it clear that such acts were executed to stall the process of reconciliation and peace. “Such cowardly acts will not weaken resolve of the pro-peace forces to restore lasting peace in this region and the on going peace process will be taken forward at any cost. Stating that enemies of peace would continue to make effort to derail peace process, she called upon the people to jointly defeat their machinations and ensure that they don't succeed in their designs. “We won't be deterred by the attempt of the enemies of peace,” she said and asserted to accelerate the process of normalcy. Reiterating resolve of her party to pursue the pro-peace agenda, she said that PDP has pioneered a reconciliatory policy and peace process which was endorsed by the successive regimes at New Delhi and Islambad. “PDP has shown in the past that it can facilitate the resolution process with prudence, and it is ready to shoulder the responsibility of taking the process to its logical conclusion,” she observed. She further reminded the workers that by facilitating the peace and reconciliation process in the region PDP had proved that its credibility in the whole sub-continent. Party vice president Trilok Singh Bajwa, general secretary Balbir Singh, Murtaza Khan, MLC, Shanti Devi, A K Sawhney, Hamid Manhas, Dr Mumtaz Bukhari, Imtiyaz Bandey, Shahzad Khan, Gurmeet Singh Raja and others addressed the gathering.
