Chaman asks Congress; Muster courage to oppose surrender policy
2/15/2010 11:07:32 PM

EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Feb 15

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today accused the Congress of playing second fiddle to Kashmir based leadership and asked that it should muster courage to oppose their policies for return and rehabilitation of the militants who had crossed the Line of Control (LoC) for arms training.
Addressing a meeting of the party activists of Jammu West Assembly segment, Chaman Lal Gupta, Leader of the BJP Legislature Party recalled that during the previous coalition of the state headed by Ghulam Nabi Azad this move was rejected in the State Legislative Assembly and the Congress legislators had jointly opposed the move for return and rehabilitation of the ultras.
“Now it would be test for their outlook and conviction on this important issue, which is linked with the security and integrity of the country,” he asserted.
The meeting was organized in connection with the preparations for having a big demonstration on February 17, to protest the visit of the Union Home Minister, P Chidambaram here in connection with the preparations for the measures to implement the controversial surrender policy.
The BJP leader alleged that Congress was never having a Kashmir policy and much of the problems in the State had been the result of the follies of the Congress leadership right from the Day One.
“As far as the National Conference was concerned, Congress leaders had always been encouraging and practicing secessionism under communal considerations although they claimed to be secularists,” he alleged.
Gupta alleged that this coalition was proving a big problem not only in the security matters but also a failure to sort out the issues like that of distribution of rations, checking the black-marketing, problems of the employees, pensioners, unemployed youths and other section of the society.
