| Resolve issues by March 9 or face agitation: Pensioners | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Feb 15: Jammu and Kashmir Pensioners Association today served an ultimatum to the State Government to resolve the issues of pensioners within 20 days. “Our activists would march towards Civil Secretariat on March 9 if the demands of pensioners are not fulfilled during this period,” Govind Ram Sharma, convenor of the association told reporters during a protest demonstration here. Led by Govind Ram Sharma, convenor of the association, the protestors raised anti-government slogans and demanded early fulfillment of their demands. They also charged the government with following dilly dallying tactics to resolve the issues of the pensioners. The convenor accused the coalition Government of compelling the senior citizens to come out on roads and raise slogans to get their demands settled. The pensioners demanded arrears for revision of pension with effect from January 1, 2006 till June 30, 2009 in one installment without further delay, additional quantum of pension in favour of state pensioners, family pensioners after attaining the age of 80 years, 85 years, 90 years , 95 years and 100 years at rate of 20 per cent, 30 per cent, 40 per cent, 50 per cent and 100 percent on the analogy of Central government pensioners be granted in favour of the state pensioners, medical allowance be enhanced from Rs 300 to Rs 1000 or in the alternative reimbursement medical scheme as is applicable to the Central government pensioners be sanctioned in favour of the state pensioners, 6 per cent DA arrears from January 1, 2009 be released in favour of the state pensioners immediately and release of 5 per cent Dearness Allowance installment.
