| Pensioners to march towards Assembly on March 9th | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 15: J and K Pensioners Association held a demonstration at Rani Park on Monday under Association’s Convenor Govind Ram Sharma and condemned the State Government for its dilly dallying tactics towards deprivation of old age pensioners/ family pensioners of their genuine demands. Association accused the Coalition Government for compelling the senior citizens to come on streets and raise slogans to get their dues settled. Sharma said that the Association has adopted all peaceful means to get their demands conceded but it shows that this does not suits, he said that State Government is compelling the pensioners to adopt the path of violence. Highlighting the demands, Sharma said the association demanded that the arrears of the revision of pension from 1st January, 2006 to 30th June, 2009 be paid in one installment without further delay, additional quantum of pension in favour of the state pensioners/ family pensioners after attaining the age of 80,85,90,95,100 and above at the rate of 20, 30, 40, 50 and 100 per cent on the analogy of Central Government pensioners be granted in favour of the State pensioners. The other demands include enhancement of Medical Allowance from Rs 300 to Rs 1000 or sanction reimbursement medical scheme as is applicable to the Central Government pensioners, release six per cent DA arrears from 1st January, 2009 to 30th June, 2009, five per cent DA as was due from 1st July, 2009.Besides this, he demanded that the original amount of computation of pension granted in favor of the pensioners be recovered from them in 10 years instead of 15 years. The Association condemned the action of State Government for withholding of Payment of Sixth Pay Commission arrears of pension, gratuity and commutation from 1st January, 2006 to 30th June, 2009 in favour of the State pensioners vide Finance Department Circular dated 2nd December, 2009 and it is demanded that the operation of the same Circular be revoked with immediate effect. The Association gave an ultimatum to the State Government to solve the issues within a period of 20 days otherwise the they will march to the State Assembly on 9th March, 2010 to lodge strong protest in order to bring their issue to the notice of the State Government. Jagdish Dogra, Ram Lal Sharma, Swarn Singh, Dessa Singh, O.P Gupta, K.L Basotra, Kamal Bhardwaj, S.L Gandotra, Jagdish Raj Sharma, R.L Raina, C.P Sharma, D.C Sharma, T.N Tikkoo, B.S Baloria, K.L Dogra, Krishan Gopal Sharma, B.R Chowdhary and Tara Chand (all Co-Conveners) were present in the demonstration.
